Transferrin

Transferrin, either bovine- or human-derived, is a common supplement in serum-free cell culture. Transferrin is known to regulate the bioavailability of iron to the cell, supporting key metabolic processes such as DNA synthesis and oxygen transport.

With increasing pressure from regulatory authorities to reduce animal derived components in the manufacture of biologics, we have developed a fully recombinant form of human transferrin, CellPrime^® rTransferrin AF, specifically for industrial scale biomanufacturing.
